LOCAL NOTES: ROYAL DEFEATED IN SOCCER SEMIFINAL.

The Royal High School boys' soccer team lost 1-0 to Millikan in the semifinals of the L.A. Watts Summer Games on Sunday.

Millikan knocked off Jefferson 4-1 in the final behind most valuable players Javier Mendoza and Andy Carrillo. In other soccer action, the Chaminade girls' team lost to Ayala 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

Dominguez High, led by most valuable player Tayshaun Prince, captured the boys' basketball title with a 74-69 win over Westchester. The girls' team lost in the finals to Narbonne 71-40.

Weiss, Bayani fall in tennis: Calabasas High sophomore Nicholas Weiss was beaten in the 16-and-under final of the Southern California Junior Tennis Sectionals in Fountain Valley. He lost to John Paul Fruttero of San Marino 6-4, 6-0. Fruttero recently won the Easter Bowl title in Florida.

Also, Simi Valley's Bernadette Bayani was beaten by Apple Valley's Tiffany Brymer 6-4, 6-1 in the girls' 16 final.

Softball transfer: Granada Hills High School catcher Patty Del Real has transferred back to Kennedy for her junior season.

Del Real attended Kennedy as a freshman, then played last season at Granada Hills.

Baseball transfer: Junior pitcher Brian Fox, the No. 2 pitcher at Birmingham last season, has decided to transfer to Chatsworth under open enrollment. He'll add depth to a Chatsworth pitching staff that already includes Ismael Marin, Tom Morefield and Mike Kunes.

Soccer tryouts: The Valley Golden Eagles 18-and-under girls' soccer team will hold tryouts at the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies in Reseda on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Information: (818) 591-2684.

Cricket: A five-team international tournament featuring renowned Jamaican fast bowler Courtney Walsh will take place July 1-6 at Woodley Cricket Grounds in Van Nuys. It is sponsored by the Southern California Cricket Association. Information: (213) 483-1693.
