LOCAL MARATHON SCHEDULED NOV. 5.Byline: Daily News SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country, - The sixth annual Santa Clarita Marathon will take place Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week. , Nov. 5, with a variety of races planned for the entire family. Last year's event marked the addition of a half-marathon race, which rounded out the mix of running events that also included the marathon, 5K run/walk and a Kid K fun run. Both the marathon and half-marathon courses are USA Track & Fiel-certified and feature a variety of entertainment along the race route. Referred to as Southern California's fall marathon, the Santa Clarita Marathon is expected to attract an estimated 3,000 participants for all races, along with an estimated 6,000 spectators.
