Release of a video-game prototype is targeted for October. Games will take another year or so to get into the market.

The device uses a process called multi-plexing, which is the display of multiple photos in quick sequence. It also has a unique feature called ``look-around,'' which the people at Infinity describe as being able to give you a different view as you move your head around. This is conceived to be useful in design applications.

Litton is designing a unit with 28 different views, whereas the basic small-screen unit has only six.

``In 1997, we hope to introduce the project first in the arcade market,'' said Canepa. ``In two years, we should be able to introduce PC monitors for consumer electronics. Computers get cheaper and cheaper each year, and the power gets stronger each year.''
