LOCAL: PREP EXTRA : ATHLETES OF THE WEEK.

MARCIN JAGODA

Crespi

Senior forward

Jagoda insists that at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds, he lacks the size to effectively play the post.

Or does he? In the Westlake tournament, Jagoda didn't seem to have a problem. He scored 60 points and grabbed 32 rebounds to help the 6-2 Celts The following pages provide lists of nations or people of Celtic origin, arranged by branch of Celtic ethnicity or language grouping:

Later, in the first round of the Chaminade tournament, he scored 14 points to lead his team.

``I'd rather be the swing man,'' he said. ``But since there's no one else, I'm the tallest player, so it's me.''

Actually, Greg Gunther is the tallest, at 6-foot-7, but he's injured. So Jagoda plugs the hole.

Coach Dick Dornan thinks Jagoda can do the job.

``He brings a lot of quickness and great athleticism that makes up for his lack of size,'' Dornan said. ``He has a tremendous desire to go for the ball.''

In 180 minutes, she gave up zero goals. That included the championship match against Westlake, when she stopped four shots that Simi Valley coach Mark Johnson Mark Johnson may refer to: Academics and scientists

``She won it,'' Johnson said. ``Ooh! What saves!''

Janke said she knew it was her day. She felt good in warmups and knew several Westlake players from her club team, so she knew their tendencies and was able to communicate them to her defense.

``It's always fun to have a game like this,'' Janke said. ``I've never had one like this in high school before, when you feel like you did your best.''
