LMDC names new chair and construction czar.As fast-paced construction work continues round the clock on the Freedom Tower and transit hub at Ground Zero, Governor Pataki announced two new important appointments to the Trade Center project. "As the former President of LMDC and member of the Executive Committee of the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, Rampe has already made tremendous contributions to the rebuilding effort and been a tireless advocate for the creation of a fitting and appropriate memorial to our lost heroes. He brings the dedication, experience, energy and insight necessary to keep the momentum going on the reconstruction of the World Trade Center and the revitalization of downtown." Rampe joined the LMDC in March 2002 and served as the LMDC president for over two years. During his tenure as president, the agency launched the international World Trade Center Memorial Competition leading to the selected memorial design 'Reflecting Absence,' worked with Studio Daniel Libeskind to refine the master site plan, preserving the selected plan's vision while producing a buildable build·a·ble adj.
