LMDC's Rampe resigns position.Kevin Rampe, who has led the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation for nearly two years, is resigning his position to work in for a private entity. Effective May 23, Rampe will resign his position as president and CEO, no successor has yet been named, and will begin his career at ACE Limited as a Global Ethics & Compliance Officer. Rampe's contributions have been enormous, including helping to establish the downtown rebuilding agency and leading it through the largest memorial competition in history. "Since the LMDC LMDC - Lake Merritt Dance Center (Oakland, California) LMDC - Laser Motion & Development Company LMDC - Leadership & Management Development Center/Course LMDC - Library and Media Director's Council (Washington) LMDC - Logistics Management Development Course LMDC - Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (New York City, NY, USA) was created, Kevin Rampe has been instrumental in our efforts to rebuild Lower Manhattan," Governor George E. Pataki said. "Kevin helped build and lead the agency which put together a visionary master plan for the redevelopment and created a moving design for the memorial. The revitalization of Lower Manhattan is well underway thanks to Kevin's many efforts. I thank him for his hard work and commitment to the rebuilding and wish him well in his new position." He will continue to serve as director and executive committee member of the World Trade Center World Trade Center, former building complex in lower Manhattan, New York City, consisting of seven buildings and a shopping concourse on a 16-acre (6.5-hectare) site; it was destroyed by a terrorist attack on Sept. 11, 2001. Prior to its destruction, the World Trade Center had been the world's largest commercial complex, home to many businesses, government agencies, and international trade organizations. Memorial Foundation. As a member of the Foundation, Rampe will help lead an international fundraising campaign to build the memorial to all those who were lost in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. "It has been both an honor and a privilege to work on the rebuilding of Lower Manhattan and the recovery of our nation," Rampe said in a statement, reiterating his commitment to continue contributing to the revitalization. Rampe joined the LMDC soon after its inception, in March 2002, serving first as executive vice president and general counsel and assuming the role of president in March 2003. As president, he directed the launch of the international World Trade Center Memorial Competition to select a memorial to honor the victims of 9/11, worked with architect Daniel Libeskind to refine the master plan for the World Trade Center site, and directed the development of a plan for the site's cultural components. "Kevin Rampe has been a tremendous asset to the downtown community and to the rebuilding effort," said World Trade Center developer Larry A. Silverstein. "He has proven time and again to be knowledgeable about all the complexities of the World Trade Center redevelopment process. He is a true leader with the rare ability to create consensus among different stakeholders." At ACE, Rampe will be responsible for providing ethics and business practices guidance, educating the ACE organization on that guidance and maintaining a global monitoring function to evaluate compliance. |
