LLOYD E. BOLAND JR., 70, DIES.

GRANADA HILLS - A funeral Mass will be said Monday for Lloyd E. Boland Jr., longtime San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Valley, southern California, U.S. Northwest of central Los Angeles, the valley is bounded by the San Gabriel, Santa Susana, and Santa Monica mountains and the Simi Hills.

Boland died Wednesday after recent surgery for colon cancer colon cancer, cancer of any part of the colon (often called the large intestine). Colon cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosed in the United States.  at Granada Hills Community Hospital. He was 70.

``Anything I was able to accomplish for California or anywhere was because he was supportive and loving,'' his wife said. ``He kept me going. He was truly the wind beneath my wings.''

The Bolands owned a Valley real estate sales office for 11 years before selling the business in 1990. Most recently, he worked for the California Housing Finance Authority.

The Bolands were married 23 years. The period included her years in the California Assembly, from 1990 to 1996.

Boland recalled ending every night in Sacramento with a call to her husband.

``The last call every night, he would ask me what was going on, just so he could be supportive and encourage me. I could always talk politics with him and counted on his advice and input,'' she said.

``It would have been 10 times as hard without him.''

  • Pop Warner Little Scholars, a non-profit organization named after the coach that offers youth American football and cheerleading & dance programs
 Football and Little League Baseball, Boland served on the Granada Hills Community Hospital Foundation, raising money the past 20 years to help the hospital expand.

Survivors include son Lloyd E. Boland III and daughter-in-law Kathi Boland of Simi Valley; daughter Maryssa D'Angelo and son-in-law Jerry D'Angelo of North Hills; son Craig Boland of New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 state; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bastian & Perrott Mortuary, 18728 Parthenia St., Northridge.

The funeral Mass will be said at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Eudes Catholic Church, 9901 Mason Ave., Chatsworth. Burial will follow at San Fernando Mission Cemetery The San Fernando Mission Cemetery is a Roman Catholic cemetery operated by the Los Angeles Archdiocese since 1800, and is located at 11160 Stranwood Avenue in the Mission Hills community of northern Los Angeles, California, near the Mission San Fernando Rey de EspaƱa. .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to a memorial fund established in Lloyd Boland Jr.'s name at Granada Hills Community Hospital.
