LITTON SCORES NAVY DEAL WORTH UP TO $2.8 BILLION.

As typical, Litton made the announcement after the stock market had closed.

Terms call for the Navy placing a firm order for six of the Aegis Class ships valued at $2.16 billion with an option on two more, said Litton spokesman Bob Stangarone.

The Litton deal is part of a 57-ship order that has been split between Litton's Pascagoula, Miss.-based Ingalls and Bath Iron Works Bath Iron Works (BIW) is a shipyard located on the Kennebec River in Bath, Maine. Since its foundation in 1884 by Thomas W. Hyde, Bath Iron Works has built private, commercial and military vessels. .

So far, contracts have been awarded for 52 ships, and Ingalls has won 25.
