LITTLEROCK HIGH HOSTS FARM DAY 1,000 ATTEND ANNUAL EVENT.Byline: Peggy Hager Staff Writer LITTLEROCK - The Friday morning sky was blue, and the weather was hot, but the kids enjoyed themselves at Littlerock High School's 10th annual Farm Day. Approximately 1,000 kindergarteners and first-graders from 25 Palmdale and Littlerock elementary schools trekked past farm exhibits and animals. ``This is exciting for them,'' said Brenda Dishna, a parent chaperone chaperone /chap·er·one/ (shap´er-on) someone or something that accompanies and oversees another. molecular chaperone for Jayne Littlefield's kindergarten class from Mesquite School in Palmdale. ``I think it's really important,'' said Heather Borgia, a senior and Future Farmers of America president at Littlerock High School. ``A lot of kids don't get to see this stuff every day. I know when I was a little kid I would have loved it.'' Tiara Robinson from Mesquite, age 6, made engine noises and pretended to drive the green John Deere tractor when it was her turn to sit on it. One little boy had a huge smile on his face as he sat in the tractor's seat. ``I love it. I have as much fun as the kids,'' said Littlefield as she sprayed her students with water from a bottle. This was her second year visiting farm day. Wearing red bandannas around their necks, her students waited patiently for their turn to get squirted. Each visitor was handed a ``passport'' that listed exhibits. The passports got stamped at each exhibit. As the kids left Farm Day they received an orange, and their teacher received a painted wooden apple and a packet of coloring and information pages for them to use in class.
