LITTLE LEAGUE NOTES: LITTLE LEAGUE DISTRICT TITLES ON LINE.

The journey to the Little League World Series began just a week ago, but for many local teams, hopes have already been dashed. The field of remaining teams further tightens this weekend.

Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  is undefeated in the double-elimination tournament A double-elimination tournament is a competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost two games or matches.  at the 11-and-12-year-old level and could clinch the District 13 championship with a victory today against the winner of Friday's Simi Valley-Thousand Oaks matchup.

Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  kept its hopes alive with a 14-7 win Thursday aginst Moorpark.

Center fielder Andrew Hernandez went 3 for 4, including a double, to lead the Simi Valley offense. Matt Brooks had two hits and scored three runs.

Simi Valley starter Jason Williston allowed three hits and one walk in 5-1/3 innings before giving way to Sean Sehnam.

Moorpark's Jimmy Righi hit a two-run homer in the sixth, but Simi Valley's solid defense and pitching prevented any hope of a comeback.

13-year-olds: Simi Valley defeated Sunset Little League 16-4 on Wednesday earn a matchup Friday with Southside.

``Our offense is coming alive,'' Simi Valley coach Sandy Scharf said. ``As long as our defense holds up, we should do well. It's a long way back when you start off in the losers bracket right away, but the way things are going and the momentum that's building, I'm very optimistic.''

PONY League The Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York League, also known as the PONY League, was a Class D minor league baseball circuit that played from 1939 through 1956. The forerunner of the modern Class A New York - Penn League, the PONY served as the first professional baseball address of : Santa Susana's Mustang team faces Toluca today after opening with a 7-3 win over North Hills on Tuesday sparked by a home run from Brian Randolf.

In the Bronco bronco: see mustang.  division, Santa Susana takes on Camarillo this morning following Monday's 10-9 opening-round loss to Agoura. Santa Susana is led by Mike Moscatello, who went 3 for 5 against Agoura, and Lance Bordeleau, who had two home runs in his 4-for-4 performance Monday. At the Pony level, Santa Susana meets West Hills today after a 7-4 victory Tuesday aginst Santa Barbara.

Chris Rainer pitched four strong innings for Santa Susana before Christopher Froehlich came on to fan seven in three innings.
