LITTLE LEAGUE ENJOYING THE RIDE POSSIBLE ELIMINATION DOESN'T TARNISH PARK VIEW.

Byline: Gerry Gittelson Staff Writer

LA MIRADA La Mirada (lä mĭrä`də), city (1990 pop. 40,452), Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1960. La Mirada derives from the Spanish for "the view," referring to the panoramic view of the surrounding valleys from atop the city's hills.  - The baseball competition is growing stronger and the Lancaster Park View Little League all-stars no longer have the inside track.

The 11- and 12-year-olds faced elimination from the Division 3 tournament late Monday at Behringer Park. But Park View (8-2), the first Antelope Valley-area team since 1978 to advance past the sectionals, has enjoyed the ride.

The eight teams in the Division 3 tournament are all highly competitive. For Park View, any more success - including a berth in the Western Regionals and possibly a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport - is gravy.

``I think if we keep playing like we're playing, we have a good shot,'' said shortstop Calvin Culver cul·ver

``This has been a great experience for the kids,'' said Anderson, who played one season of minor-league baseball in 1984. ``I'm really proud of the team's attitude. Some of the games have been very stressful and they've really come through and played together as a team. They're all pulling for each other to do well. They've kept their heads in the game and it's paid off.''

--Chasing 'em down: No one's been more instrumental for Park View than right-hander Chase Tigert, who improved to 5-0 with Sunday's complete-game victory over Hanford. In 29 innings, the 5-foot-10 right- hander has allowed one earned run earned run
