SAN BERNARDINO San Bernardino, city, United States
San Bernardino (săn bûr'nədē`nō), city (1990 pop. 164,164), seat of San Bernardino co., S Calif., at the foot of the San Bernardino Mts.; inc. 1854.
-- It all comes down to today. Win and stay alive. Lose and the season is over.

Hoping eventually to qualify for the Little League World Series, Northridge lost its second in a row at the Western Regionals, falling 1-0 to Arizona in front of 5,000 on Tuesday at Al Houghton Stadium.

Northridge (13-3 overall, 1-2 in regional) must win its final pool game against Nevada (9-3, 1-2) at 11:45 a.m. today to qualify for the tournament semifinals Thursday. The championship game is Saturday at 6 p.m., and the winner advances to the World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Arizona parlayed two infield errors, a walk and a single into an unearned run in the third, and the one-run lead held up.

A team that has won most of its games by comfortable margins through the district, section and Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Divisionals tournament, Northridge has lost three of its past five.

Northridge certainly had its chances Tuesday:

In the second inning, Northridge put runners on second and third with none out, but Arizona right-hander David Hulls David Lee Hull (born 15 June 1935) is a philosopher with a particular interest in the philosophy of biology.

(6-1) responded with three consecutive strikeouts.

In each of the next two innings, Northridge again had runners in scoring position In the sport of baseball, a baserunner is said to be in scoring position when he is on second or third base. The distinction between being on first base and second or third base is that a runner on first can usually only score if the batter hits an extra base hit, while a runner on  but could not capitalize, as Hulls ended both threats with strikeouts.

And in the top of the sixth and final inning with Northridge needing a run to tie the score, Bretton Bowman reached third after walking, advancing on a hit batter followed by a fielder's choice field·er's choice
