LITTLE CAESARS(R) LOVE KITCHEN TO FEED
MORE THAN 20,000 HURRICANE ANDREW VICTIMS
SOUTH DADE COUNTY, Fla., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to ease the food shortage for victims of Hurricane Andrew, the Little Caesars Love Kitchen will serve hot, fresh Little Caesars Pizza to more than 20,000 people gathered at a mobile food court in South Dade County.
The Love Kitchen, a pizza restaurant on wheels, will serve the hurricane victims from Thursday, Sept. 3, through Wednesday, Sept. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cutler Ridge Mall at Exit 11 on the turnpike extension of highway US 1.
The mobile unit also will distribute 4,500 one-gallon jugs of drinking water, compliments of Coca-Cola.
The Little Caesars Love Kitchen, inspired by Little Caesars Chairman of the Board Michael Ilitch, is a nonprofit foundation consisting of two mobile pizza restaurants that travel across the U.S. and Canada providing nutritious meals to soup kitchens, or wherever needy people gather on a day-to-day basis.
Since the Love Kitchen program began seven years ago, nearly 750,000 people have been fed in 48 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces.
"While many groups and agencies have donated packaged food staples for the disaster area, there is a shortage of ready-to-eat hot meals and safe drinking water," said Little Caesars South Florida Market Director Scott Dennis. "We are grateful that we have the capability to provide these things to those people who were affected by the disaster."
In addition to day-to-day servings, the Love Kitchen also has provided relief to people affected by Hurricane Hugo in Charleston, S.C., as well as serving underprivileged children at the White House Easter Egg Roll.
