2. not readily absorbing water, or being adversely affected by water.

3.
material specifically designed to provide excellent electrical insulation Electrical insulation

A nonconducting material that provides electric isolation of two parts at different voltages. To accomplish this, an insulator must meet two primary requirements: it must have an electrical resistivity and a dielectric strength
and tracking resistance, along with improved mold release, according to the literature. It is said to feature an addition cure system for improved productivity. This product is a fully compounded, catalyzed, high-consistency rubber compound. Typical applications are presented in the bulletin, along with information on limitations, use, shipping, storage, typical properties and packaging. (Dow Corning, Midland, MI 48686-0994)

Fluoroelastomer sealant

A product bulletin describes the properties, uses and technical specifications for the company's one-part fluoroelastomer sealant/caulk. Formulated from DuPont Dow Elastomer's Viton, a fluorine-containing synthetic rubber, Pelseal 2077 is said to combine ease of use with exceptional heat and chemical resistance properties, which is said to make it ideal for use in harsh environments. Unlike two-part sealants and caulks, which require a separate curative agent for activation, Pelseal 2077 is supplied in resealable 11- and 20-ounce caulking caulk·ing
n.
A usually impermeable substance used for caulking. Also called caulking compound.

Noun 1. caulking - a waterproof filler and sealant that is used in building and repair to make watertight

Thermoplastic elastomer

Arnitel polyester-based thermoplastic elastomer grades are featured in a 24-page, four-color brochure. Arnitel polyester-based elastomers are said to combine the performance characteristics of elastomers with the processing features of thermoplastics, providing benefits in processing and productivity, according to the literature. Arnitel co-polyesters consist of hard and soft segments. The hard segments are semi-crystalline polybutylene-terephthalate. The soft segments are amorphous polyesters or polyethers. The ratio of soft to hard block and the composition of the soft segment can be varied, thus creating a wide range of properties, according to the literature. (DSM 1. DSM - Data Structure Manager.
