Polyoctenamer modifier (programming) modifier - An operation that alters the state of an object. Modifiers often have names that begin with "set" and corresponding selector functions whose names begin with "get".

A brochure describes the patented Vestenamer polyoctenamer reactive modifier for ground-tire-rubber/ asphalt concrete mixes. A small amount of the product binds the ground-tire-rubber/asphalt concrete mixture and eliminates tack for lower cost-per-mile, superior road surfaces, according to the literature. The key advantage of the tack-free mixture is said to be that it reduces the costly wait for the surface to cool. This is said to permit the rolling of the pavement immediately after application because the hot surface will not stick to the machinery. In addition to speeding up the paving process, Vestenamer polyoctenamer is said to impart surface properties that repel water and may help reduce icing. The brochure describes how Vestenamer polyoctenamer pellets react chemically with crumb rubber and asphalt to produce a uniform, low-tack, rubber-like composite.
