LinX Law Enforcement Information Exchange LINX Logistics Information Exchange ) -- the largest Internet exchange point See IXP and NAP. in Europe -- has commissioned new infrastructure to allow its member ISPs to connect their networks directly rather than through the exchange. The new development, it is claimed, will permit further improvements in the efficiency of Internet Internet Publicly accessible computer network connecting many smaller networks from around the world. It grew out of a U.S. Defense Department program called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), established in 1969 with connections between computers at the data traffic management. Five LINX members have already signed contracts for this `private peering' service and several others have expressed interest. www.linx.net |
