LINTAS:CAMPBELL-EWALD CREATES WEST COAST AUTOMOTIVE GROUP
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Lintas:Campbell-Ewald has formed a West Coast Chevrolet/Geo Automotive Group at its Los Angeles office to give Chevrolet optimum service and expertise in its West Coast marketing efforts, according to advertising agency Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard D. O'Connor.
This expansion is the result of Chevrolet awarding Lintas:Campbell- Ewald all of its West Coast advertising in January.
"We have assembled a team with notable West Coast automotive advertising experience and achievements," O'Connor said. "This team will be developing advertising plans and strategies, and executing advertising that will position Chevrolet for increased success on the West Coast."
Heading the group will be Senior Vice President, Management Supervisor Garry Neel, and Senior Vice President, Associate Creative Director Bob Ancona. Neel joins Lintas:Campbell-Ewald from Hill, Holiday, where he was management supervisor for Infiniti regional marketing. Ancona has worked with Chiat/Day, Ketchum and NW Ayer and has extensive automotive experience with Acura and Nissan Motor Corporation.
Vice President, Account Supervisor Mark Bellissimo, who has been managing Lintas:Campbell-Ewald's Geo West Coast business for the last 18 months, will report to Neel.
The group will have a media team that will coordinate all West Coast Chevrolet media planning and buying directly from Los Angeles. Bruce Weber, vice president, media planning and buying, joins the group from Lintas:Campbell-Ewald's Detroit office bringing significant regional automotive media planning experience to the West Coast team. Senior Vice President, Associate Media Director Ricki Kohn, who has been with Lintas:Campbell-Ewald's Los Angeles office for the last 18 months, will work closely with Weber. Kohn's strong previous automotive and import experience at Team One agency for its Lexus client will add considerably to the West Coast efforts.
The Automotive Group will have responsibility for all West Coast- oriented research, creative direction and media buying, and combined with existing Los Angeles operations, brings the office to more than 60 employees. The group will work closely with Executive Vice President, Chevrolet Account Director Tony Hopp and Executive Vice President, Chevrolet Creative Director Bill Ludwig.
"The group will be counted on by Bill and Tony to bring a fresh perspective to our efforts for Chevrolet cars and trucks and Geo on the West Coast," O'Connor said.
Lintas:Campbell-Ewald, which is Michigan's largest advertising agency, has handled Chevrolet advertising for more than 70 years. The automaker's western region advertising has been handled by a separate agency since 1984, before being reassigned to Lintas:Campbell-Ewald.
Lintas:Campbell-Ewald is an operating unit of Lintas:Worldwide, which has 168 offices in 50 countries. Lintas:Worldwide is one of the world's 10 largest advertising agencies with estimated billings of almost $5 billion in 1991.
