The purpose of the team is to support NASA's clinical scientists and flight surgeons seeking advice on operational issues related to clinical management, drug treatment, choice of medications, pharmacotherapeutic research goals, and emerging technologies and procedures.

Plush's aerospace involvement has included serving on the editorial boards for Life Support and Biosphere biosphere, irregularly shaped envelope of the earth's air, water, and land encompassing the heights and depths at which living things exist. The biosphere is a closed and self-regulating system (see ecology), sustained by grand-scale cycles of energy and of  Science and Human Performance in Extreme Environments scientific journals.

She is a life member of the Aerospace Medical Association and founding president of the Palmdale-based Space Nursing Society.

Plush is also the owner of two Palmdale-based companies: Plush Systems Inc., a health education and consulting business; and West Palm Inc., a mobile dialysis dialysis (dīăl`ĭsĭs), in chemistry, transfer of solute (dissolved solids) across a semipermeable membrane. Strictly speaking, dialysis refers only to the transfer of the solute; transfer of the solvent is called osmosis.  service.
