EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway.  - Production is under way on the newest group of Air Force recruiting commercials.

This is the fourth time in four sets of commercials that production company GSD&M has picked Edwards for filming.

``We come to Edwards because most of the aircraft that we need are here,'' said Daniel Russ, the creative director. ``The Air Force leaders don't want 20- or 30-year-old aircraft in the commercials. They want the new stuff.''

``And, the weather's always nice,'' he added.

One scene features a B-1B Lancer from Ellsworth Air Force Base Ellsworth Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base near Rapid City, South Dakota and is home to the B-1B Lancer.

The host wing is the 28th Bomb Wing, which includes an operations group, a maintenance directorate, a mission support group, and a medical group.

Previous commercials filmed at Edwards have featured a trio of stealth aircraft - a B-2 and two F-117s - refueling in flight, an F-16 with ``How's my driving?'' and many Edwards personnel.

The newest commercials are scheduled to air sometime after September.
