The rain made for a wet hike for some Getty Center guests Sunday after the tram shuttling visitors to the hill-top museum broke down. Although buses managed to take care of most guests, some ended up hoofing it in the rain.

Lori Starr, director of public affairs for the Getty Center, said the tram had been hit by a mechanical failure. She was unsure when the tram would be back in operation.

The rain was expected to taper off Sunday night, with just a twenty percent chance of scattered showers lingering into the morning.

By this afternoon, the rain should give way to breezy conditions with highs in the mid-60s.

The next chance of rain could come on Wednesday night or Thursday morning with the arrival of another storm from the Gulf of Alaska Noun 1. Gulf of Alaska - a gulf of the Pacific Ocean between the Alaska Peninsula and the Alexander Archipelago

But Weather Service Meteorologist David Sweet said it probably wouldn't break the pattern of weak storms hitting Southern California.

``It doesn't look very wet,'' he said. ``Just a quick shot of rain followed by wind.''
