LIGGETT GROUP SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH CHINA NATIONAL TOBACCO CORPORATION

 DURHAM, N.C., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Liggett Group announced it has signed a cooperative agreement with the China National Tobacco Corporation (CNTC) to provide the technical assistance necessary for the Chinese manufacturer to produce an American-blend cigarette for consumption in China. Under the agreement, Liggett will assist CNTC in developing and supplying flavor materials to use on cigarettes manufactured at their facility in Henan Provence.
 Details of the agreement were not disclosed, but Liggett stated the venture will not require a significant financial investment on their part. Liggett's primary investment will be in providing technology and training.
 CNTC is China's national tobacco monopoly, producing more than 1.5 trillion cigarettes annually.
 Liggett, a subsidiary of Brooke Group Ltd. (NYSE: BGL), is the sixth largest cigarette manufacturer in the United States. Its major brands include Eve, Lark, L&M, Chesterfield and Pyramid.
