LIFE TECHNOLOGIES, INC. ELECTS K. GRAHAME WALKER CHAIRMAN AND DECLARES QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

 GAITHERSBURG, Md., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Life Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: LTEK) announced today that K. Grahame Walker has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the company. Walker succeeds Worth Loomis who retired from the board.
 Walker is president and chief executive officer and a director of The Dexter Corporation, a specialty materials company headquartered in Windsor Locks, Conn. Dexter owns 55 percent of the common stock of Life Technologies. Walker was elected a director of Life Technologies in 1989. He is also a director of The Barnes Group.
 The board of directors also declared a quarterly dividend on its common stock of five cents ($0.05) per share. The dividend is payable July 16, 1993, to shareholders of record at the close of business on June 18, 1993.
 This is the ninth regular quarterly dividend under the company's dividend policy. The board expects to consider quarterly dividends in the future based on the company's continuing operating results.
 Life Technologies develops, manufactures and supplies more than 2,000 products used principally in life science research and commercial manufacture of genetically engineered products. The company is a leading supplier of sera and other cell growth media, as well as enzymes and other biological products necessary for recombinant DNA procedures.
