LIC gets in BID business.

City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S.
 Department of Small Business Services (DSBS DSBS Danish Society for Biopharmaceutical Statistics ) recently celebrated the launch of the Long Island City Business Improvement District with a kickoff event at Met Life's headquarters in Long Island City.

The Long Island City BID was signed into law in December 2004 by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg making it the 50th BID created in New York City.

"The Mayor's been a champion of Business Improvement Districts since day one of his Administration, and the results are clear--seven new BIDs in the past three years," said Commissioner Robert W. Walsh.

David Brause, Chairman of the BID and Vice President of Brause Realty Inc., a major property owner in the district said, "The BID will offer much needed services including street maintenance, security and marketing to the business tenants, employees and residents located within the BID footprint."

 BID includes all properties fronting Queens Plaza Queens Plaza can mean the following:
  • Queens Plaza - Queens Plaza, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
  • Queens Plaza - Queens Plaza in Long Island City, Queens,New York, United States
 North and South from 21st Street to Queens Plaza East, and all properties along both sides of Jackson Avenue between 45th Avenue/Thomson Avenue and Queens Plaza.

Additional properties in the proposed district are located on Queens Street and on the 42-00 block of Crescent Street.

The LIC BID, which will be under contract to the Long Island City District Management Association to operate the BID, will provide services to the 84 properties that make up the BID footprint.

The BID has retained Atlantic Maintenance and FJC FJC Federal Judicial Center (US)
FJC Federation of Jewish Communities
FJC Family Justice Center
FJC Freely Jointed Chain
FJC First Jump Course (skydiving/BASE)
FJC The Foundation for Jewish Camping
 Security, a firm located within the BID, to handle the security patrols.
