He has taken over from Abdullah Salem Al Badri. Badri was chairman of NOC's governing gov·ern v. gov·erned, gov·ern·ing, gov·erns v.tr. 1. From November 1992 until March 1, 2000, Badri was also secretary (minister) for energy. But that huge portfolio, which included the petroleum and electricity sectors, was abolished in March 2000. Now the petroleum sector is run by NOC's governing council, of which Ahmad Abdel Karim Ahmad is chairman. Until Oct. 1, Ahmad was a senior member of this council. In his 40s, he used to work for an oil company in London. He is said to have connections to key people in the first logic. |
