LIARS CAN RUN, BUT THEY CAN'T HIDE FROM ANGELA'S `EYES'.Byline: David Kronke Television Critic Lifetime's new crime drama ``Angela's Eyes'' is essentially the USA Network's new series ``Psych'' inside out and played without laughs. And we see just how necessary those laughs are. Like ``Psych's'' protagonist, FBI agent Angela Henson (Abigail Spencer Abigail Leigh Spencer (born August 4, 1981 in Gulf Breeze, Florida) is an American actress. Her first major acting role was playing Rebecca "Becca" Tyree on All My Children. ) has a keen eye -- well, two, as the title suggests -- for detecting subtle details in people's behavior: She flat-out knows when people are lying. How she came upon this ability is part of a back-story too contrived to get into here. She's young and impetuous im·pet·u·ous adj. 1. Characterized by sudden and forceful energy or emotion; impulsive and passionate. 2. Naturally, her talents pretty much scrap every romantic relationship she could get in -- what guy doesn't lie? Nonetheless, her conundrum conundrum A problem with no satisfactory solution; a dilemma will certainly resonate with Lifetime's audience, who might wish they possessed Angela's gift. Tonight's episode offers a faint echo of the lurid Scott Peterson

Naturally, the writers have cooked up a more salacious sa·la·cious adj. 1. Appealing to or stimulating sexual desire; lascivious. 2. Lustful; bawdy. [From Latin sal scenario. Unfortunately, it's not hard to see where this series is going. Most episodes will have Angela announcing, ``He's lying,'' and her colleagues scratching their heads, ``But how do we prove it?'' As Angela, Spencer is a requisitely appealing actress, yet she scarcely conveys any of the grim life experience her character has had. Her work comes from the inexpressive-is-the- new-soulful acting theory that seems popular today. But a show such as this needs someone with more gravity at its center, and she seems more a weightless blank.
