LIABILITY FOR VIOLENT ACTS OF THIRD PARTIES COVERED IN NEW REPORT

WAYNE, Pa., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Corporations and individuals risk multi-million dollar jury verdicts for not taking steps to prevent violent assaults from occuring on their property.
In one recent lawsuit, a Texas appellate court upheld a $16 million award to a woman who was raped in her townhome. The award was entered against the property manager of her apartment complex for negligently mishandling residents' keys.
This is just one example of the more than 30 recent legal developments reported in the premiere issue of Mealey's Litigation Report: Premises Liability, published by Mealey Publications Inc. of Wayne.
Premises Liability also reported on cases which discuss the relevance of past criminal activity on a property; whether violence was foreseeable; negligent security; whether premises liability damages are covered by insurance; government immunity; negligent retention of an employee; and more.
Recent verdicts, including two for more than $1 million apiece, also were detailed.
Each edition of Premises Liability includes summaries of developments from courts across the country, as well as reprints of court opinions and pleadings.
