software and application suite to power new A7100.

LG Electronics (LGE), Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI) and TTPCom Ltd announced today that they are developing a range of handsets based on ADI's and TTPCom's EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) technologies. With data rates up to three times those available on GPRS networks, LG's EDGE-capable handsets will be able to deploy data-intensive 3G type services including video downloads and high-speed Internet access. LG Electronics ranks as the world's fifth-largest manufacturer of cellular phones(a) and will be one of the first handset manufacturers to launch products based on the EDGE standard.

The first EDGE handset to be launched, a 'slider phone' called the LG A7100, is powered by ADI's Blackfin(R) SoftFone(R) for EDGE chipset and TTPCom's EDGE protocol software and application suite. The LG 7100 offers users a rich multimedia experience including MPEG4 video, multimedia messaging service (MMS), 40 note polyphonic sound, JAVA and WAP. The phone is triband (850/1800/1900 MHz) enabling users to roam seamlessly across EDGE and GPRS networks worldwide. The new handset will be shown at 3GSM World Congress on LG's stand, Hall 2, Analog Devices' stand D60 in Hall 2 and TTPCom's stand, A3 in Hall 1.

Analog Devices' Blackfin SoftFone for EDGE platform is the world's first chipset for the EDGE standard. ADI's SoftFone platform is completely RAM-based, which allows LGE to easily customize user features and options entirely in software for a wide range of phones, while incorporating breakthrough advancements in power consumption, cost and size. In addition, the platform is based on ADI's Blackfin processor, offering best-in-class digital signal processing performance and low power consumption required for advanced cellular handsets. In addition to the digital baseband processor, ADI will supply LG Electronics with a high-performance mixed-signal analog baseband chip with integrated power management.

TTPCom's EDGE software is fully integrated with the ADI platform and, with industry-leading data rates up to 216 kilobits per second, it enables manufacturers to develop products that fully utilize EDGE networks. TTPCom's EDGE software also builds on a proven GSM/GPRS base and during 2003 has undergone extensive interoperability testing with leading infrastructure providers, test equipment vendors and wireless operators.
