 LG&E ENERGY CORP. ANNOUNCES NEW LG&E POWER SYSTEMS PRESIDENT
 LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- LG&E Energy Corp. (NYSE: LGE) announced today that James R. Traa has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of LG&E Power Systems Inc. Traa, who will be based in Irvine, California, will be responsible for all operations of this fully integrated independent power developer and will serve as a member of the company's Board of Directors. Power Systems is engaged in the design, development, construction, ownership, operation and/or maintenance of independent electric-power and cogeneration facilities. The company currently has ownership interests in seven projects in Maine, New York, North Carolina and Virginia. It also operates and maintains 19 plants in North America on its own behalf and for third parties.
 Traa, 54, served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Siemens Power Corporation, in Bradenton, Florida, prior to a corporate restructuring last year. He was responsible for marketing, sales, engineering, product/project groups and product service associated with the supply of power-generation equipment. His 31-year career has encompassed a wide variety of other management positions at Siemens, Tenneco and the General Electric Company.
 He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine force.
 LG&E Power Systems is a subsidiary of LG&E Energy Systems Inc., the non-utility business unit of LG&E Energy Corp., an energy-services company headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.
