LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  - Lennox Lewis Lennox Claudius Lewis CBE (born September 2 1965 in West Ham, London, England) is a retired professional boxer who represented Canada in the Olympics and fought under the British flag as a professional. He is a former undisputed lineal heavyweight champion.  put the heavyweight division back in order.

The 36-year-old Briton proved that his knockout loss to Hasim Rahman Hasim "The Rock" Shariff Rahman (born November 7, 1972), is an American boxer who became the heavyweight champion of the world by knocking out Lennox Lewis in 2001. His nickname is The Rock (the name comes from his last name, correctly pronounced "rock-mahn").  in April was an aberration and that he's anything but through, stopping Rahman with a big right hand at 1:29 of round 4 before a packed arena at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino on Saturday.

Thus, Lewis becomes heavyweight champ for the third time: He won the WBC WBC white blood cell; see leukocyte.

 belts.

``He'll have to change his name to `Has-Been Rahman,' '' Lewis said. ``When we were in South Africa South Africa, Afrikaans Suid-Afrika, officially Republic of South Africa, republic (2005 est. pop. 44,344,000), 471,442 sq mi (1,221,037 sq km), S Africa.  (the site of the first fight), I said he has the belts on loan. He had his 15 minutes of glory. Now they've come home to me.''

So much changed in seven months.

In the first fight, Lewis (39-2, with 30 knockouts) was undertrained and underfocused and it showed in the ring. He fought listlessly list·less

for four-plus rounds until Rahman landed his own fight-ending right in the fifth round.

On Saturday, Lewis, all business, took control of the fight from the beginning, landing one stinging jab after another and following with more and more rights as the fight progressed.

As a result, Rahman (35-3, 29 KOs) was kept off balance and was frustrated that he couldn't get near enough to Lewis to land punches.

Still, the big punch was just as dramatic as Rahman's was in April. Lewis landed an uncharacteristically wide jab with his left hand and followed with a sweeping right hook that landed flush on Rahman's jaw, knocking the champion flat on his back.

Rahman rolled to his side and then managed to get to his feet halfway through the count but fell again face down, which prompted referee Joe Cortez Joe Cortez (born 1945 in New York, New York) is a Puerto Rican boxing referee who has worked many important world title bouts. Biography

 to stop the fight.

Just like that, Lewis, the pre-eminent heavyweight of the past several years, reclaimed his title as the best in his division and reduced Rahman to the ordinary heavyweight he was thought to be before April.

``I noticed that every time I jabbed he reached out with both hands,'' Lewis said. ``I think he was looking for Looking for

a short right. I turned it around on him and threw a wide right.''

Rahman, so vocal during a contentious prefight media tour, was humble after the fight.

``It was a good punch,'' he said. ``I give him credit. He had a good jab, he kept me at a distance. He was a lot more prepared. I can't take anything away from him.

``He came back after getting knocked out. Now, it's my turn to come back and see what I can do.''

Had Lewis lost, he probably would have been finished as a top contender. He even said before the fight that he would retire if Rahman were to win again.

Instead, he's looking at more big-money fights in his immediate future.

Who does he want? No-brainer: Mike Tyson, against whom he could exceed a $20 million payday. He made a reported $12 million on Saturday, Rahman $10 million.

``I want Tyson,'' he said. ``I definitely want Tyson. I've wanted Tyson since the second (Evander) Holyfield fight (in 1999). But I'll take whoever. There are enough guys out there.''

William Joppy (33-2-1, 24 KOs) bounced back well from his knockout loss to Felix Trinidad in May, outpointing Howard Eastman (32-1, 29 KOs) to win the WBA WBA West Bromwich Albion (English Soccer Club)

 middleweight title a third time.

Two judges scored it for Joppy (115-112 and 114-112) while a third had it even (113-113).

The title became vacant when the WBA declared undisputed champ Bernard Hopkins ``super champion,'' a move most believe was made to generate more sanctioning fees.

Christy Martin (44-2-2, 31 KOs) outpointed Lisa Holewyne (14-8-1, six KOs) in a 10-round women's bout. Martin is negotiating to fight Mia St. John Mia Rosales St. John (born June 24, 1967) is an American professional boxer, model, businesswoman, and a Tae Kwon Do champion.

 of Calabasas.

Heavyweight prospect Sergei Liakhovich (16-0, 10 KOs) of Byelorussia outpointed Friday Ahunanya (16-1, nine KOs) in a 12-round bout.

And former heavyweight champion Oliver McCall (39-7, 28 KOs) knocked out Henry Akinwande (40-2-1, 26 KOs) with a perfect right to the chin at 2:13 of the 10th and final round.

Akinwande was winning the fight easily on all cards.
