LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE AN OBJECTION TO COMICS IMITATING LIFE.


Dear L.A. Life: I was extremely concerned when I read ``Dick Tracy'' (April 9). There was a young kid with a machine gun preparing to shoot up the school prom. This was so alarming that I had to bring it to your attention.

This was very irresponsible ir·re·spon·si·ble  
adj.
1. Marked by a lack of responsibility: irresponsible accusations.

2. Lacking a sense of responsibility; unreliable or untrustworthy.

3.
, especially in light of what has happened in recent years on school campuses across our nation. If one unstable child read this strip and decided to duplicate this violent, senseless sense·less  
adj.
1. Lacking sense or meaning; meaningless.

2. Deficient in sense; foolish or stupid.

3. Insensate; unconscious.
 deed, it could start another wave of terror in an already volatile atmosphere of confusion.

Without caution, the means by which we are made aware of some of the most unfortunate events in our world could in fact cause those incidents.
