LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE : SOME COSMIC FORCE ENJOYS SPICE GIRLS.

Come on, 'fess up. It was 6- to 7-year-olds doing the voting for the American Music Awards The American Music Awards show is one of several annual major American music awards shows (among the others are the Billboard Music Awards, the Grammy Awards, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony). . My 7-year-old granddaughter, Rebecca, denies (thank heavens) any voting knowledge, but I'll wager thousands of her contemporaries were contacted, else how can we explain the Spice Girls The Spice Girls are an English all-female pop group, formed in London in 1994. The Spice Girls, consisting of: Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, and Victoria Beckham signed to Virgin Records and released their debut single, "Wannabe", in 1996. ?

If this is the ``best'' of the new artists, I fear for the music world. Did Barney come in second?

Setting the record straight on `below the line' artists

In reading the article on how the acting community feels about not getting a proper percentage of the fee the cable industry is paying for old TV shows (L.A. Life, Feb. 1), I would like to point out to SAG (1) A momentary drop in voltage from the power source. Contrast with spike.

Not one penny is paid to any of the ``below the line'' artists on the programs - the director of photography, the makeup artists, the sound recorders, the film editors and all the other artisans - who strive to make the actors look and sound their best, so SAG can collect residuals for their members.

No Golden moment for Nicholson, Madonna

At the Golden Globe Awards show, Jack Nicholson John Joseph Nicholson (born April 22 1937), known as Jack Nicholson, is a three time Academy Award winning American actor internationally renowned for his often dark-themed portrayals of neurotic characters.  did not kiss Madonna when he went up to receive his award. This is not unusual for the ``great'' one, as he only kisses himself most of the time.

A patient's bad medicinesours her on M.D. miracles

The article about ``The Race for Longevity'' (L.A. Life, Jan. 5) and the miracles of medical science left me cold. Thanks to the miracles of medical science, I damn near died. Twelve years ago, after breaking my leg, I was diagnosed with diabetes and thanks to the discovery of insulin, I was ``saved.'' Five years ago, I was diagnosed with epilepsy epilepsy, a chronic disorder of cerebral function characterized by periodic convulsive seizures. There are many conditions that have epileptic seizures. Sudden discharge of excess electrical activity, which can be either generalized (involving many areas of cells in , and again due to the discovery of seizure medications dilantin and depokene, I was again ``saved.''

Last June, after a seizure landed me in the hospital, a wonderful and conscientious doctor discovered after lots of tests that I don't have either diabetes or epilepsy. My seizures were caused by the use of insulin, which I never needed in the first place!

Medical science isn't worth beans if you have an incompetent doctor or hospital!!
