LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE : MEMO TO `SUITS': TRY SHOWING SOMETHING WATCHABLE.By and large, the powers that be in TV have fed the public a stale diet of cops, docs and law shows the last several years. A few are memorable, but most are not. Now the trend to add some spice to the recipe is a heavy dose of teen-angst drama driven largely by gonads and hormones. As a middle-aged adult who has read a few books and enjoys literature, I can only wonder who dreams up these current story lines. If what makes it to the TV screen is the cream of the writing talent in this town, then TV is in big trouble. Maybe the ``suits'' who choose what is bought and shot and televised to a declining home audience should realize they are the cause more people are turning off their TV sets. Scriptwriting and storytelling do not necessarily need juvenile toilet humor or competitions to see who can work in the word a-- the most times during their show to be successful. For the many out here in the viewing audience who prefer to have their brains teased rather than their glands, I hope that there are some undiscovered writers out there with fresh ideas. A few talent scouts with the vision to recognize creativity and take a chance on something new and different would be refreshing too. Suits, listen up - I LOVE TV. Please show me something I can watch. - Steve Hubele - North Hollywood Madonna's image on attire found deeply offensive Remember when Muslim organizations came down on Nike because one of their shoes bore a design that looked like Allah in Arabic? Aren't all of the media satisfied with appealing to the animal nature in us without desecrating everything that is holy? When hearing all the rapes, murders, tossed babies in dump heaps in the news media, some of them act shocked. What the hell do you people expect? - Dottie Cumming Messina Moorpark Your recent article in L.A. Life (``Divine Inspirations'') featured a three-page spread on the latest women's fashions. This consisted of photos of various reproductions of classic Madonna and Child The Madonna and Child is one of the central icons of Christianity, representing the Madonna or Mary, mother of Jesus and her son. This is the ultimate as to how far some will go to show derision, ridicule and contempt for what many consider most sacred in their lives. The piece starts with the snide remark ``don't get your rosary beads in a knot.'' To those of us who believe, the rosary is a sacramental sacramental, in the Roman Catholic Church, aid to devotion that is not a sacrament.
