LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE : HATS OFF TO OLD-FASHIONED MARITAL COMMITMENT.

My neighbor and I enjoy the column Boomers Plus in the Tuesday edition, about the couples who have been married for 50 years. It's nice to read about something so stable in an unstable world.

Nowadays, people break up over the slightest things, without giving marriage a chance. I'm sure these couples didn't have a bed of roses (who did?) but they stuck it out and raised families and lived productive lives.

Demise of KSCA KSCA - Kansas Scholastic Chess Association

 strikes a chord among listeners

I have read your brief ongoing items regarding the demise of radio station KSCA-FM (101.9) with disbelief and denial.

Again, another example of excellence and versatility in its field must surrender to the narrow constrictions
1. a narrowing or compression of a part; a stricture.constric´tive
2. a diminution in range of thinking or feeling, associated with diminished spontaneity.

and mediocrity much of L.A. radio has become.

As a dazzling showcase for live music and exposure for artists (especially women) who are ignored or not heard elsewhere on L.A. radio an aching void will be left behind.

KSCA disc jockeys are also to be commended for intelligent presentation and entertaining knowledge of the music world. This contrasts sharply with the mindless blather often heard on other stations.

Now my radio will be switched off as I dust the cobwebs (1) A Web page that has not been updated in a long time.

(2) A Web page that is rarely downloaded because the references to it are obscure or the subject is simply uninteresting.
