LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE : COUPLE'S FERTILITY ODYSSEY SENDS IMPROPER MESSAGE.

I am writing in response to the cover story titled ``Waiting for Jonah,'' (Sept. 7, L.A. Life). I am deeply saddened that the Daily News chose to glorify such a tragic misuse of technology. Along with advancements in medical science comes a myriad of social responsibilities for which are collectively and individually accountable. How can the same citizens who condemn a frightened, 14-year-old pregnant girl for considering an abortion condone condone v. 1) to forgive, support, and/or overlook moral or legal failures of another without protest, with the result that it appears that such breaches of moral or legal duties are acceptable.  a couple of thirty-somethings who voluntarily pursue a course of action in which four babies are killed? Dr. Laura has wrong idea on `curing' homosexuality

(An open letter to Dr. Laura Schlessinger Laura Catherine Schlessinger (born January 16, 1947) is an American cultural and conservative commentator, best known as host of the popular Dr. Laura radio advice call-in show. The show is nationally syndicated and runs three hours a day on weekdays. ):

I have been a fan of yours for years and have made being my kids' dad a priority as well as supporting my wife's decision to be a stay-at-home mom. Yet, I was distressed that you endorse the fundamentalist Christian organization Exodus. (Aug. 23, L.A. Life).

Four years ago, my then-16-year-old son told us he was gay. My wife and I were shaken and sad, but we determined to support our son, to find out why he thought he was gay and to find a cure for it. We discovered through years of listening to medical professionals, to our minister and especially to our son that his sexuality was not a choice but rather a gift from his maker.

If you research Exodus as we did, you will find that they are not supported by any medical or psychological organization. They talk of ``curing'' homosexuality but will not give statistics of their success, only a few testimonials.
