LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE : `TEA' A TOTAL VIEWING PLEASURE.Re: Glenn Whipp's review of ``Tea With Mussolini'' We must ask did Mr. Whipp see the same movie that we did? Upon reading his scathing review, we decided to risk it anyway and see the movie. Thanks goodness! Not only did we find it to be a marvelous tour de force of five wonderful actresses, but also a charming, heartwarming heart·warm·ing or heart-warm·ing adj. 1. Causing gladness and pleasure. 2. Moreover, numerous people from the audience continued to laud the actors' performances in the lobby afterward. (Whipp) does not seem to understand the movie's intent and misses the mark completely in his review of this one. In fact, the movie was beautifully done with superb performances by each of the seasoned, accomplished actors cast in it. ... It is a moving and superbly crafted film which cannot help leaving the mature viewer the better for having the privilege of seeing it.- Calvin J. Burbank Bob Strauss' review of ``The Phantom Menace'' is the only knowledgeable and fair one I have read from the many appearing since the preview screenings. He obviously has an understanding of the mythical implications in the ``Star Wars'' movies, and is able to rise above the temptation to backlash at the hype and over-merchandising. His critical eye is especially dead-on in his summation summation n. the final argument of an attorney at the close of a trial in which he/she attempts to convince the judge and/or jury of the virtues of the client's case.
