LETTERS TO L.A. LIFE; STAPLES CENTER A BUST FOR PARTYGOER.

Dear L.A. Life: Hooray to the Eagles on their New Year's Eve performance and to the Daily News for its article (``Eagles play favorites for fans on New Year's,'' by Fred Shuster, Daily News, Jan. 2). However, I was surprised to find no mention of the terrible organization and lack of concern for the fans by the Staples Center This articlearticle or section has multiple issues:
* Its neutrality is disputed.
* It may contain original research or unverifiable claims.
* It does not cite any references or sources.
.

We were made to stand in line for close to 1 1/2 hours, causing a large number of people to miss Linda Ronstadt and most of Jackson Browne. We were told this was due to security reasons. Why, then, was I not even asked to open my purse?

In my opinion, there were simply not enough gates open with ticket takers to accommodate the crowd. Once inside, the concessions were poorly stocked, and employees lacked motivation to get people served quickly so they could get back to their seats, which, if they were in the upper area, suffer from such bad lighting that I'd be surprised if they did not have a few accidents.

All in all, a very bad experience. This is one patron who will not be returning to the Staples Center in the future.

FOR `ALL MY CHILDREN,' RIGHT IDEA, WRONG DELANEY

Dear L.A. Life: I just read the feature on ``All My Children's'' 30th anniversary (L.A. Life, Jan. 4), and there was some incorrect information.

As a longtime fan (watching since June 1970), I know my ``AMC'' characters pretty well, and Carol Bidwell, who wrote the article, made a huge mistake. In listing stars that launched their careers as members of ``All My Children's'' cast, she listed Dana Delany. This is incorrect. She has never been on the show. She may have been thinking about Kim Delaney (``NYPD NYPD New York City Police Department (since 1845; New York City, NY, USA)
NYPD New York Play Development
Blue''), who played Jenny Gardner, sister to Tad and daughter to Opal.

Thank you for correcting this situation.

COMIC STRIPS

Main article: Comic strip
The following is a list of comic strips. The dates shown after a name relate to the period during which the comic appeared.
 DRAW MIXED RESPONSE FROM READERS

The debut of three new comic strips in L.A. Life (``Six Chix Six Chix is a collaborative comic strip that debuted in January 2000 and is now syndicated in over 120 newspapers. It is drawn by six women (hence the name). They rotate the drawing duties through the week based on a fixed schedule:
  • Mondays - Isabella Bannerman
,'' ``Superzeros'' and ``Randolph Itch'') drew the usual flurry of mail, including many responses over the Internet. Here's a sample:

--I got a bit of a surprise when I opened the comics section today. I think I'll like ``Six Chix'' the best. Cool idea of six rotating cartoonists. The other two, ``Randolph Itch'' and ``Superzeros,'' look promising ... (Ben Cole)

--I'm very disappointed that you have replaced ``Shoe'' and ``Broom Hilda'' with new, untried strips ... I understand that you had no choice concerning ``Motley's Crew Motley's Crew was a comic strip by Ben Templeton and Tom Forman about a middle aged blue collar factory worker named Mike Motley and his wife Mabel Motley. They had a son named Truman who married a woman named Tacoma. Out of that marriage came two lovely sons. ,'' but I find it hard to believe that ``Shoe'' and ``Broom Hilda'' were the weakest strips and in need of replacement. If you are looking for Looking for

strips to replace, try ``Brenda Starr Brenda Starr may refer to:
  • Brenda K. Starr, musician
  • Brenda Starr (comic strip)
,'' ``Dick Tracy'' or ``Fred Basset.'' They are unreadable as far as I'm concerned. (via e-mail)

--The Daily News helps me get off to a fast start by replacing comics I like to read with ones that I cannot stand ... (via e-mail)

--I just had to write you about the change in the comics you made.

I'm sorry to see ``Motley's Crew'' leave because I liked that one. But if it's no longer in syndication, then I guess that's why it isn't being continued.

However why do you insist on keeping that stupid ``Zippy'' and ``Dinette di·nette

2. The table and chairs used to furnish such an area.

Set''? If it was up to me, those are the first two I'd replace. I simply refuse to read either one of them .... (via e-mail)

--I have been a subscriber to the Daily News for over 20 years and am writing to express my extreme displeasure that two of my favorite comic strips - ``Broom Hilda'' and ``Shoe'' - have been dropped from your newspaper. In the past, you have allowed your readership to vote on their favorites and the ones they like the least. Why were we not allowed to do that this time? I can't help but notice that ``Zippy,'' who is at the bottom of the list in every poll, is still being carried ... (Annette Florance).

EDITOR'S NOTE: In past polls, many readers have expressed a dislike for such strips as ``Zippy,'' ``Dinette Set'' and ``Mallard Fillmore.'' However, these comics also have substantial and rabidly loyal followings. That affected our decision to leave them in L.A. Life. ``Shoe'' and ``Broom Hilda,'' however, did not rate many votes among the several hundred we received in two recent polls. We hope readers of the L.A. Life comics will give our three new strips a chance.
