Bridge should screen out landfill

I hope the new Interstate 5 bridge over the Willamette River Willamette River

River, northwestern Oregon, U.S. It flows north for 300 mi (485 km) into the Columbia River near Portland. Oregon's most populous cities are in its valley. The Fremont Bridge, a steel arch with a main span of 1,225 ft (373 m), crosses the river at Portland.
will have a screen installed to block motorists' views of Lane County's lovely garbage dump. Otherwise, it will be like building a grand new entrance to your home and putting the dumpster next to the front steps.

Eugene loses another arts gem

I applaud the efforts of Kirk Boyd, artistic director, and Michael Peterson, general manager, of Willamette Repertory Theatre repertory theatre

Ten years ago these two gentlemen had a vision. Through a lot of work and personal sacrifices they were successful. With creative minds they brought introspective in·tro·spect

Sadly, Eugene has lost another gem of the arts.

Civic Stadium has struck out

I'm starting to get really upset.

In Eugene is one of the greatest historical treasures to be found anywhere in these United States. It's being brushed off as a piece of junk. It's being allowed to whither whith·er

We must stop this senseless profit-ridden salute goodbye to a stadium that is heaped in so much local and national history. We must save it.

But there is no joy in Eugeneville - mighty Civic Stadium has struck out!

Church still wrestles with issue

We at Wesley United Methodist have not voted on the issue of becoming a reconciling congregation. We are still too divided as a congregation to come to a meaningful consensus.

The United Methodist Church United Methodist Church, in the United States, religious body formed by the union in 1968 of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist Church (see Methodism).  has for years held that "homosexual persons no less than heterosexual persons are individuals of sacred worth. All persons need the ministry and guidance of the church in their struggles for human fulfillment, as well as the spiritual and emotional care of a fellowship that enables reconciling relationships with God, with others and with self.?... Many of us commend First United Methodist Church First United Methodist Church is a common name for the first United Methodist church established in a particular locality. Many First United Methodist Churches exist around the world.  in Eugene for taking its stand to become a reconciling congregation. Others hold back because there is language in our church social principles saying we do not condone the practice of homosexuality. There obviously is disagreement among us. Wesley United Methodist Church Wesley United Methodist Church is a common name. It can refer to several churches in the United States:
  • Wesley United Methodist Church (Minneapolis, Minnesota)
  • Wesley United Methodist Church (Sikeston, Missouri)
  • Wesley United Methodist Church (Bryan, Ohio)

Though we have not committed ourselves to the official Reconciling Movement as did First UMC UMC United Methodist Church

, we and others are passionately committed to the ministry of Jesus According to the Canonical Gospels, the Ministry of Jesus began when Jesus was around 30 years old, and lasted a period of 1-3 years. In the Biblical narrative, Jesus' method of teaching involved parables, metaphor, allegory, sayings, proverbs, and a small number of direct sermons.  Christ to all persons, especially to gays and lesbians.

We publicly proclaim that we are a church with open hearts, open minds and open doors. We are human. We fail at times. But we are committed to being a loving community in the name and spirit of Jesus Christ.

Eugene EMS crews are top notch

I have had to call Eugene Fire & Emergency Medical Services An Emergency medical service (abbreviated to initialism "EMS" in many countries) is a service providing out-of-hospital acute care and transport to definitive care, to patients with illnesses and injuries which the patient believes constitutes a medical emergency.  on several occasions. Yesterday when they arrived they were very professional and courteous, as usual.

We thought my wife may have had some broken ribs, so they were very gentle and made sure she got transported with a minimal amount of pain. These firefighters were from the Barger Station. The two women running the ambulance were also very professional and made sure my wife got in the ambulance with a minimum amount of pain. One of them even made a really nice comment.

I can't say enough about the EMS teams.
