LETTERS CITY INTERSECTION NEEDS LIGHT - NOW.

I'm I'm

Contraction of I am.

Our Living Language Speakers of some scattered varieties of American English sometimes use I'm instead of I've or I have in present perfect constructions, as in

are. Highway 138 is obviously one that we all are aware of. Little side streets and other intersections that while not as popular are still very dangerous deserve more attention.

The stop sign at 47th Street East and Palmdale Palmdale, city (1990 pop. 68,842), Los Angeles co., S Calif., in the irrigated Antelope Valley; a growing residential suburb of Los Angeles near Little Rock Creek where it forms Lake Palmdale Reservoir, inc. 1962.  Boulevard is one of these unsafe areas. Dozens of accidents have occurred and many fatalities. It is said that installation of a light there has been planned for about a year. I'm sure it doesn't does·n't

take a year to put up a light.

As a result of the city's negligence negligence, in law, especially tort law, the breach of an obligation (duty) to act with care, or the failure to act as a reasonable and prudent person would under similar circumstances. , accidents keep happening and more lives have been taken. An officer on the scene at one of the recent accidents said, ``The area is unsafe and poorly lit.''

Well, I would like to know why something wasn't was·n't

done sooner? Obviously they were aware it is an unsafe spot yet still, after two fatal accidents in the last two months, the light project remains unfinished.

I have lived in Palmdale for over 17 years, and I've seen this happen before. It takes large numbers of accidents and deaths to occur before action is taken.

I feel it should not take such extreme recurrences for something to be done. We put our safety and trust in our city workers and I think we deserve to be as safe as possible. What is it going to take to deal with this issue faster?

Vote yes to build recreation areas

The city of Palmdale wants to add a water park, amphitheater amphitheater (ăm`fəthē'ətər, ăm`pə–), open structure used for the exhibition of gladiatorial contests, struggles of wild beasts, sham sea battles, and similar spectacles. , sports complex, gymnasiums and two covered swimming pools. The $3 per month assessment will provide a portion of the cost to develop new recreation facilities. It is my understanding that other money will be used from funds specified by the city as well as local and state grant funds.

These facilities will be built in both the east and west sides of the city and will serve our ever-growing population, increase our property values and keep our property safer because kids will have plenty of places to go spend their free time.

I hope voters don't make the mistake of thinking they are being asked to pay the full bill while getting little in return. My family is excited about Palmdale's Vision for the Future, and I can't wait to mail my yes ballot.
