LETTERS; STOP JUDAS GOATS FROM TAKING OVER THOUSAND OAKS : DON'T BE TOO SCARED TO GET RID OF ZEANAH.

Throughout the United States and the rest of the world, there are animals used in the stockyards and slaughterhouses that are called Judas goats. That term is used for all types of animals, whether they be bovines, goats, etc. The function of Judas goats is to lead the rest of the animals - who follow without hesitation - to the point where the Judas goats are allowed to pass safely while all of the following animals are stopped and slaughtered.

We have a large clique of Judas goats in Thousand Oaks, and they have been lying and grossly distorting facts in their malicious attempts to unjustifiably recall council member Elois Zeanah. Council member Zeanah has not done one thing that justifies this recall effort. As far as I know, she hasn't made a cent out of her efforts to save Thousand Oaks from this greedy clique of Judas goats. One claim by them is that she fudged a bit when describing her educational background. I'm not sure about that and, frankly, I don't care; I can look at her impeccable seven-year record of honesty and actions and say to everyone that we must stop this greedy clique in their attempts to recall Zeanah.

Vote no on the Zeanah recall, and vote for someone other than Dennis Gilette as a possible replacement. The worst thing that can happen is for the people in Thousand Oaks not to vote against the recall. Keep the Judas goats from winning and ruining Thousand Oaks.

In other words, yes, the newspapers are scared of recall, and yes, recall is serious, but does Thousand Oaks deserve better than Elois Zeanah's performance the past seven years? You bet we do

Is Elois Zeanah doing a lousy job? You bet she is. Knowing that, we know enough to vote yes on Nov. 4.

Moorpark newcomers bringing big-city taxes

The amount of money being spent to promote an increase in my taxes is truly astonishing. It does make me wonder where the money comes from, or it did until I realized that some of it comes from people or groups who may receive funds from the city for their own pet projects.

It seems that the voters would be interested in knowing what the contributors wished from the city and how many have a project that is being or will be considered.

For myself, it would be a lot better if outsiders kept their noses out of my taxes - they are high enough as it is.

I went to high school at the Moorpark Memorial High School. My school is now gone. Now my income is under attack by the same people.

People who wanted to live in a nice little town began moving in. They also wanted the same things they had in a city. So parks and schools were built and built. Nice little town tax bills. It is as though the in-comers wanted to drive us out of our hometown and hoped that by demanding more and more some of us would go away.

I won't go away, and I resent having to pay for things I don't use just because in-comers have decided they know what benefits me and are determined that I provide the funds. I will vote against any new taxes and probably against any dusty, old ones the spenders try to resuscitate. For many years assessments have risen with very little approval from the public. At last I get to vote Nov. 4.

Vote to provide better learning environment

Once again it's election time . . . time to exercise your prerogatives and let your wishes be known. I, too, would like to influence the voting public on the upcoming election on a subject that is very near to my heart and a treasure to all of us . . . our dear children.

I am a senior of mature years and my children are grown and have gone their separate paths. In their own ways they must fight the battle of education for my grandchildren in the communities where they now live.

I want to urge all of you to vote yes on the school bond issue. In the 31 years I've lived in Thousand Oaks, to the best of my knowledge, there has been no full-scale renovation or updating of the school facilities. There is a real need for air conditioning so the students can learn in comfort, computer and science labs so they may participate and learn about the world around us and be educated to enter into the work force of the future, and a host of other items that are necessities at this time rather than just amenities.

We live for our children and families. Please vote yes on the bond issue. We can't afford not to.
