As a parent, I am dismayed by your paper's choice to place these kinds of advertisements in a section that children want to read because of their interest in learning about sports and sports heroes. My children, on their own, have said that their sense of values has been offended. I do understand your needs to raise funds through advertising and your right to freedom of the press. I see there is a way to preserve your needs while at the same time not offending subscribers. Would you please consider moving these advertisements to a section that is not of such interest to children such as the classified ads, editorial section, or a removable insert? ?13Janet Fishman, Northridge Get real Travis Grant. You don't expect anyone to believe you when you say you had ``mixed emotions.'' It was all about green, not Celtic green but cash green I feel bad you couldn't live on only $327,000 this year, but the Lakers See Lake poets were to reward you heavily starting next year. We all know Beantown is going nowhere for several years, yet the Lakers will be. So much for loyalty as the Lakers rescued you from the Bulls and gave you the chance to show your great potential. When did your head get so big? Was it when your wallet got so big? If you're dumb enough to think the Celtics are close to the Lakers, then I wouldn't pay a dime to get you back! Enjoy the playoffs Travis, on TV! ?13Craig Miller Craig Millar is a reporter and news presenter for North Tonight on STV North. I preferred the old ``Green Sheet.'' With the addition of two new teams in 1998, the gap between the haves and have-nots will be even greater. If we were in mid- to late-September, I would be excited; still, two-team races in the strongest AL and NL divisions are already in place. When your team is already 31 games out, you'd better find something else to do in Philadelphia, or pray for rain or snow. ?13Gary Traxler,Oxnard |
