LETTER TO THE EDITOR.

I read with great interest an article in the April 2001 edition of Agri Marketing on Farmland Industries' trade education program "Support Trade, For Farmers, For Farmland, For You."

As the only working family farmer in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  Senate and chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, I understand the importance of international trade to America's farmers. International trade has a significant impact on my home state of Iowa, with agriculture exports contributing more than $5 billion a year to Iowa's economy.

Nationwide, approximately $6 million in agricultural products, such as grains, oilseed oilseed

the seeds of the linseed plant, rapeseed or canola, peanut, safflower (Carthamus tinctorius); biproduct oils from seeds include corn, grapeseed, olive, sesame, sunflower.
, cotton, meats and vegetables, are processed for export every day. These exports generate more than $100 billion in total business activity and sustain nearly a million American jobs.

The "Support Trade" program sponsored by Farmland Industries and the communications team led by Sherlyn Manson and David Eaheart addressed a vitally important issue through a program which informed and enlightened farmers on the importance of international trade to agriculture at the grass roots grass roots

Too few companies appreciate the importance of trade education to our continued economic vitality. Farmland Industries is truly a leader whose example I hope others will emulate.

He was chairman of the Finance Committee from January to June 2001, and from January 2003 to December 2006 and currently serves as the  U.S. Senate

I want to thank you for the enlightening interview your magazine's contributing editor A contributing editor is a magazine job title that varies in responsibilities. Most often, a contributing editor is a freelancer who has proven ability and readership draw.  Den Gardner conducted with Linda Thrane, executive director of the Council for Biotechnology Information, which appeared in your April 2001 issue.

It was good to see that this very important council is getting the acknowledgement it deserves for building consumer awareness and acceptance of plant biotech development. Every chance this council has to voice its commitment to the breakthrough of agricultural technology allows the opportunity to tell the story that these crops are indeed safe and help to provide an affordable and abundant food supply.

Your interview also went on to point out that many organizations are directly involved in CBI CBI
