LETA ANDREWS NAMED OUTSTANDING TEACHER OF 1993 AT 'THE WALT DISNEY COMPANY PRESENTS THE AMERICAN TEACHER AWARDS' ON THE DISNEY CHANNEL

 at Walt Disney World Resort, Nov. 19
 ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Leta Andrews, athletic coach from Granbury High School in Granbury, Texas, was named Outstanding Teacher of 1993 during the fourth annual presentation of "The Walt Disney Company Presents the American Teacher Awards," telecast live on The Disney Channel from The American Adventure within EPCOT Center at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, on Nov. 19. The award was presented by Michael Eisner, chairman and chief executive officer, The Walt Disney Co.

 The program paid tribute to 36 teachers who were selected from hundreds of applications by a selection committee made up of representatives from national education organizations. The selection committee then chose one outstanding teacher in each of the 12 subject categories.
 The Outstanding Teacher of the year was selected by the 36 teachers themselves, by secret ballot under the supervision of Price Waterhouse, from the group of 12 outstanding category honorees.
 Each of the 36 teachers received a cash honorarium. The schools of the 12 outstanding subject category honorees and that of the Outstanding Teacher of 1993 will also receive a cash honoraria, and the Outstanding Teacher of 1993 will receive an additional cash prize.
 "The Walt Disney Company Presents the American Teacher Awards" telecast is a Smith-Hemion Production for The Disney Channel. Multi- Emmy Award winners Gary Smith and Dwight Hemion are executive producers of the special. Patrick Davidson is the producer.
