LET IT SHINE.

Byline: - Glenn Whipp

In the holiday comedy ``Deck the Halls,'' Danny DeVito Daniel Michael DeVito Jr. (born November 17, 1944) is an Emmy Award-winning American actor, director, and an Oscar-nominated producer, who first gained prominence for his portrayal of "Louie De Palma" on the popular ABC and NBC TV series Taxi (1978–1983).  plays a guy named Danny determined to put so many lights on his house that it can be seen from outer space.

Not surprisingly, some neighbors object, including Matthew Broderick's button-down, uptight leader of the local winter festival.

``He's a real Currier & Ives kind of guy, while my character is somebody who's going deep into debt at Home Depot The Home Depot (NYSE: HD) is an American retailer of home improvement and construction products and services.

Headquartered in Vinings, just outside Atlanta in unincorporated Cobb County, Georgia, Home Depot employs more than 355,000 people and operates 2,164 big-box

The actor has played abrasive types before. He rose to fame as Louie DePalma -- considered by many as one of the most obnoxious characters in television history -- on ``Taxi'' in the late '70s, picking up an Emmy and three other nominations. He subsequently played similar oily types in such comedies as ``Ruthless People'' and ``Other People's Money.''

``(Danny) has bought every available light in the whole county,'' the actor says about his character. ``There are tracers Tracers

There are issues, but DeVito says ``Deck the Halls'' doesn't turn into a vicious slugfest like ``War of the Roses,'' the 1989 film he directed and had a supporting role supporting role nsecond rĂ´le m

``It's is what I call a good-spirits movie,'' DeVito says about ``Deck the Halls,'' which also stars Kristin Davis Kristin Landen Davis (also listed as Kristin Lee Davis) (born February 23 or February 24,[1] 1965 depending on the source) is an American Golden Globe and Emmy award-nominated actress best known for the role of Charlotte York on HBO's Sex and the City.  of ``Sex and the City'' and Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth.

``I think we need some of those these days. My guy wants people to come to his house, and loves that children dig all the festive stuff. He just wants to make the neighborhood a fun place -- and have his house be seen from outer space. It's Christmas. Is that too much to ask?''
