LEE'S 'SENSE' WINS BEST PICTURE HONORS AT BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL.

Ang Lee, whose "The Wedding Banquet" received the Golden Bear in 1993, was awarded top honors again for "Sense and Sensibility Sense and Sensibility is a novel by the English novelist Jane Austen, that was first published in 1811. It was the first of Austen's novels to be published, under the pseudonym "A Lady". " at the 46th Berlin International Film Festival, which closed Monday.

Sean Penn, who plays a doomed convict in "Dead Man Walking," won a Silver Bear as best actor, while Anouk Grinberg was named best actress for her work in the French film "My Man."

The award for best director was shared by Yim Ho of Hong Kong Hong Kong (hŏng kŏng), Mandarin Xianggang, special administrative region of China, formerly a British crown colony (2005 est. pop. 6,899,000), land area 422 sq mi (1,092 sq km), adjacent to Guangdong prov.  for "The Sun Has Ears" and Richard Loncraine of Britain for "Richard III Richard III, 1452–85, king of England (1483–85), younger brother of Edward IV. Created duke of Gloucester at Edward's coronation (1461), he served his brother faithfully during Edward's lifetime—fighting at Barnet and Tewkesbury and later invading ."

A special jury prize went to "All Things Fair," Bo Widerberg's film about a high school boy who has an affair with a teacher. The Swedish-Danish production is in the running for a best foreign-language film Oscar.

 at the awards ceremony. Many at the festival said they thought "Dead Man Walking" was a more serious and courageous work.

Jury president Nikita Mikhalkov later defended the jury's choice, saying "Dead Man Walking" and "All Things Fair" were close runners-up for best film, but "Sense and Sensibility" was a "masterpiece."

Taiwan-born Lee, who said in a fax that "it was like being struck by a bolt of lightning when I received the Golden Bear three years ago," now said, "Berlin has become my home."

After being heavily criticized last year for the lack of festival glamour and a no-show by Robert Redford, festival director Moritz de Hadeln could take pride this year in welcoming a bevy bevy
