The Antelope Valley and surrounding areas at a workshop to be held 9 a.m. to noon April 5 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 502 W. Ave. K. Admission to the workshop, titled ``The View From Piute Butte Butte, city, United States Butte (by t), city (1990 pop. 33,336), seat of Silver Bow co., SW Mont.; inc. 1879. It is a trade, ranching, and industrial center. : Engaging With Past and Place in Antelope Valley,'' is free, but reservations are required. The subject of the workshop is the use of local folklore and culture memory in understanding the broader experience of the American West. Brewer will discuss how she has used the history of the Antelope Valley and surrounding areas, and particularly the story of the Antelope Valley Indian Museum and local history pageant, ``The Crimson Arrow,'' as the basis of a course on anthropology of the American West for several years in Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. History in Wales. She has worked during the past three years with Antelope Valley Indian Museum Curator Edra Moore in researching the history of the museum and its role in the community. She is in the area directing an anthropological field school on the study of the cultural landscape in Southern California. The British students accompanying Brewer will help with the workshop and pageant segment demonstration and will participate in the discussions which follow her presentation. Also scheduled to speak is Cindi Alvitre, who is a University of California, Los Angeles UCLA comprises the College of Letters and Science (the primary undergraduate college), seven professional schools, and five professional Health Science schools.
