More than 100 aspiring fly-anglers took advantage of a free four-week class offered by the Sierra Pacific Flyfishers, a San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

The U.S. Forest Service has extended the 2003 Annual and Secondary Adventure Passes for Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino national forests for three months to compensate users for the period of time the forests were closed because of fire danger last fall.

A Ventura Superior Court judge has denied a request by a group of commercial and sport fishing groups to halt implementation of the Channel Island Marine Reserves. Judge Steven Hintz issued the ruling Wednesday.

The judge said in denying the motion that halting enforcement of the reserve regulations would be against the public interest, and the fishing groups are not likely to prevail in the litigation An action brought in court to enforce a particular right.
