 WITH NATIONWIDE CALL ORIGINATION CAPABILITIES
 COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In its latest move to position itself among the leading national telecommunications companies, LCI International, formerly known as LiTel Telecommunications Corporation, today announced that the company will provide nationwide call origination for its full line of switched services.
 "The telecommunications needs of our customers no longer make it reasonable or appropriate for us to limit our service area and remain a regional carrier," explained Thomas J. Wynne, LCI International president and chief operating officer. "This move to expand our call origination capabilities is a direct result of listening to our customers and will allow us to compete eye-to-eye with the other major carriers -- AT&T, MCI and US Sprint."
 With these new capabilities, LCI International customers will be able to use LCI voice, data and video services from any location across the country. This is especially important for firms with branch offices and other business associates located nationwide.
 "Another windfall benefit of nationwide call origination is that current LCI International customers will be able to take even greater advantage of our 'Customers & Colleagues' promotion," Wynne explained. "This promotion enables current LCI customers to refer their customers, colleagues and other business associates with locations across the country. Referring new customers to LCI could mean big savings for our current customers and for the new customers they refer to us."
 Initially, LCI International will lease facilities from other carriers but plans to expand its own network nationally as the marketplace dictates. LCI will be fully responsible for providing access, billing and customer service to its nationwide origination customers.
 LCI International's complete America Series of switched services will be offered to business and residential customers nationwide. These services include America Plus (dial one), America WATs (dedicated access switched services), Nationwide 800, International Direct Distance Dialing and LCI's newly-introduced travel card, WorldCard, which in addition to providing domestic calling capabilities, enables callers to dial within and between foreign countries as well as back to North America on a direct-dial basis.
