LCI INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCES 'TRANSCONNECT' TO MEET DEMAND FOR RETAIL AND BANK TRANSACTION PROCESSING

DUBLIN, Ohio, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- LCI International (NASDAQ-NMS: LCII) today announced a new data service designed to meet the growing demand for transaction processing. The new service -- LCI TransConnect -- will be targeted to users such as retailers, banking and financial institutions and credit card companies.
LCI TransConnect will provide point-of-sale devices at department stores, gas stations and retailer sites access to transaction processing providers for applications such as credit card authorizations. TransConnect is available via 950 Feature Group B or 800 access. Additional access options are currently under evaluation.
"The transaction processing market has and will continue to experience incredible growth," said Tom Wynne, LCI's president. "Traditional transaction processing and emerging transactions applications such as the electronic delivery of state and federal benefits and the processing of healthcare transactions is an area demanding our attention as a full-service provider to our customers."
TransConnect will cut typical transaction response times from 20 seconds to between 10 or 12 seconds. TransConnect users will pay one charge for the initial 12 seconds of a transaction and one charge for each additional one-second increment. For ease of use and budgeting, TransConnect 950 Feature Group B and 800 access pricing is the same.
"At this time, LCI TransConnect users commonly access the TransConnect network at low speeds," said Scott Booth, LCI's senior manager of data services marketing. "As a result, LCI's 12-second transaction pricing accommodates the needs of our customers. As customers' terminal speeds increase, LCI will modify the billing increments to provide the most economical service to our customers."
