LBMS announces fully customizable standards management tool.

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 1995--LBMS Inc. today announced the immediate availability of Client/Server Guidelines, a fully customizable standards "desktop," that captures, distributes and maintains all Windows-based software standards in one central location.

Optimized for Windows 95, Client/Server Guidelines provides the development team with efficient methods of maintaining industry best practices for client/server applications development.

Client/Server Guidelines is fully customizable. An organization can make changes to the central standards database creating instant updates that are available to development teams via the repository. By promoting reuse of these corporate and industry standard development guidelines, Client/Server Guidelines increases developer productivity and efficiency, and ensures consistency across applications.

"LBMS LBMS Long Beach Middle School (New York)
LBMS Lake Bluff Middle School (Lake Bluff, Illinois)
LBMS Lake Belton Middle School (Belton, TX)
 is committed to providing application development management solutions to the growing number of developers building workgroup and enterprise client/server applications," said Rick Pleczko, vice president of product management at LBMS. "Client/Server Guidelines is the first tool that empowers the development team with ready-to-use application guidelines and procedures. The product fills a void in the industry that required software developers to reference style guides and manuals for standards rules and recommendations. Instead, Client/Server Guidelines gives organizations immediate and customizable guidelines for standardizing the development process."

Client/Server Guidelines includes industry proven standards and guideline topics, including:

- a comprehensive database of GUI (Graphical User Interface) A graphics-based user interface that incorporates movable windows, icons and a mouse. The ability to resize application windows and change style and size of fonts are the significant advantages of a GUI vs. a character-based interface.  design standards Design standards

- coding and naming conventions;

- a component manager to monitor and maintain team- and enterprise-level reusable objects, such as GUI components, code, business rules and data objects;

- an inventory manager to track company-standard application development tools.

Other features of Client/Server Guidelines include:

- a glossary of terms providing definitions and notations for developers who are unfamiliar with Windows terminology.

- a user-defined reference folder that allows developers to store tables or lists, for such items as reserved words, icons and standard menus to be shared across a development team.

Client/Server Guidelines requires Windows 95 or 3.x, with 8 Mb RAM and 50 Mb hard disk space on a server. Client/Server Guidelines runs independent of network protocols and works with any network compatible with Windows including Novell Netware (operating system, networking) Novell NetWare - Novell, Inc.'s proprietary networking operating system for the IBM PC.
