LAX CONTRACT EXTENSION IS APPROVED FIRM IN AIRPORT RENOVATION PART OF DA'S OFFICE INQUIRY.

 Corp., the ninth amendment for a total contract of $22.4 million, came after Airport Commission President Ted Stein recused himself over the district attorney's inquiry into the matter.

``A recent article contained unsubstantiated and erroneous information,'' the statement issued at the board meeting said. ``The report was irresponsible. Until this matter is resolved, which I am confident it will be, I have chosen to disqualify To deprive of eligibility or render unfit; to disable or incapacitate.

Stein would not discuss the matter.
